Cabin Bulky Baggage (CBBG)
Cathay Pacific flights allow the following types of bulky baggage as CBBG:
- Musical instruments
- Religious idols
- Diplomatic baggage
- Other baggage items (e.g. artworks, documents, perishables, personal effects, urns and other items which passenger would like to take with them on a paid seat
Note: For other baggage items, these items should come in own container and will be fitted directly into the canvas bag (provided by CX). The items must NOT be or containing any restricted or dangerous goods opens a new window.
Conditions of Acceptance
- Advance notice of 72 working hours is required for CBBG request
- Only one extra seat for CBBG is permitted per passenger
- Below table is the summary on the condition of carriage, size and weight limitation and tie-down method of CBBG. For CBBG request which beyond the acceptable limitations shall be rejected

Note1: A cabin bulky baggage device is used to secure the baggage item to the seat.
*Religious idol will be put into a carton box that will be fitted into a canvas bag.
How to book a Cabin Baggage Occupy Seat (CBBG) for a passenger
Important Note : Please follow below IATA standard of CBBG name element. Failure to create CBBG in correct name format may result:

- Input "CBBG" together with passenger name in ONE name field.
- Add SSR CBBG element with size, weight and contents details and associated passenger during PNR first creation.
- After PNR creation, please book Advanced Seat Reservation (ASR) in the same seat row for the passenger and CBBG together in one ASR entry.
Example of CBBG name, SSR CBBG and ASR entries of Passenger Mrs Susan Miller booked on Y class, requested a CBBG and want to seat at 40A and 40B

- Do not add SSR CBBG after PNR creation. SSR CBBG must be added during PNR first creation.
- Do not input CBBG in name field with different entries or invalid format.

Fare and Ticketing
- Please make sure that status code for "SSR CBBG" is confirmed as "HK" before issuing the ticket.
- The charge for the extra seat occupied by cabin baggage shall be the fare which would have been charged to a passenger occupying such seat(s) for the applicable journey at the time of booking the extra seat
- Inclusive Tour (IT), CHD or other rebated fares such as Spouse, Agent or Ship’s crew may not be used
- It is not required to collect fees/taxes for the extra seat ticket if such amounts are not part of the fare.
- Below are the points to note when issuing the ticket :
For all GDSs except Travelsky(1E):
- Issue ONE ticket to cover the charges for the passenger and the extra seat.
- In the Fare Basis box – enter the applicable Fare Basis Code, including the Fare and Passenger Type code ‘CB’
e.g. YQ41HKAO/CB - Update the base fare by adding the CBBG surcharge to the base fare amount
e.g. HKD7880 ( HKD3940 X 2 ) - Include the cost of the baggage as a Q surcharge in the fare calculation line.
e.g HKG CX TPE501.90 Q501.90 NUC1003.80 END ROE7.850068 - Baggage allowance for the passenger remains unchanged. No baggage allowance for the CBBG seat.
For 1E:
- Issue a ticket covering carriage of the passenger in the normal manner.
- Issue a separate ticket for accompanying baggage according to standard procedure, except for the following:
- In the Fare Basis box – enter the applicable Fare Basis Code, including the Fare and Passenger Type code ‘CB’ e.g. YQ41HKAO/CB
- In the “Endorsement/Restrictions” box – enter document number of the passenger’s ticket.
- Baggage allowance for the passenger remains unchanged. No baggage allowance for the CBBG seat.
